Serbia to implement deals with Kosovo (AP)

BELGRADE, Serbia ? Serbia's chief negotiator in EU-mediated talks with Kosovo says the Belgrade government will implement all agreements reached during the discussions, in spite of opposition from local Serbs.

Borislav Stefanovic said Thursday he expects the talks with Kosovo officials next week in Brussels to result in concrete deals and that the disputed customs posts along the boundary will be on the agenda.

Serbia must improve ties with Kosovo to win candidacy for European Union membership on Dec. 9. EU officials want Belgrade to implement previous agreements and make new progress in the talks, before backing its bid to join the EU.

There are fears that hardline Serbs ? who have put up roadblocks in northern Kosovo ? could undermine the effort.

Serbia does not recognize Kosovo's 2008 declaration of independence.
